Le Romantique
On a sunny day in June, Michel Gondry, director of the movie “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” and the creator of many wondrous music videos, was in his sparsely furnished New York production office, rummaging through a large cardboard packing box. He was dressed, as he typically is, in loose jeans and an untucked short-sleeve button-down shirt. At 43, Gondry is boyish, with quick, sharp eyes like those of a hyperalert bird. He is French, and although he speaks perfect English, he has a thick accent. “These are all about an ex-girlfriend,” he said, as he took several curious-looking items from the box and placed them, one by one, on an oval conference table. “I made all these when she left me, two years ago.”

Having gotten his lounge-singer jollies out of his system with the jazzy early 2006 album Duper Sessions, Sondre Lerche is getting ready to rock in 2007. On February 6, Astralworks will release Phantom Punch, the Swedish cutie's "third full-length album with his band, the Faces Down," according to a press release.
